Plum Boro

Plum Boro, originally founded as Plum Township in 1788 was reorganized as a borough in 1956. It is located in Western Pennsylvania, Allegheny County and is approximately 14 miles east of the City of Pittsburgh. According to the 2000 Census, Plum is the second largest borough in the state of Pennsylvania comprising 29.01 square miles of land area with a population of 26,940. The Pennsylvania Environmental Council in their August 2003 draft of the Three Rivers Conservation Plan states that "Plum is named after Plum Creek, which was bordered by many of the fruit trees." |
